Helping you and your family reach and maintain good health is very important to James Irwin Charter School. James Irwin is pleased to offer a selection of benefits designed with your health and financial wellbeing in mind. We review our benefit programs each year to ensure we consider the best combination of benefit coverage, network access and affordability for employees. Please see the attached 2022 JICS Benefit Guide for an overview of all available health benefits. Due to the complexity of some of this information, contact Human Resources if you would like additional information or would like to schedule a time to meet and discuss further!

How to Enroll
Action Required
All eligible employees must go online to either “Elect” or “Waive” your Medical / Rx benefits:
- Log in to Ease per instructions you will receive through email.
- Select “Start Enrollment” on your dashboard to begin enrollment.
- Enter and/or verify that your personal information is correct and enter in any eligible dependent information. Click the green “Next” button to proceed to the next section.
- Follow the prompts on each subsequent page to complete your benefits enrollment. Click “Next” to proceed to the next benefit.
- Make your benefit choices by selecting either “Enroll” or “Waive” for each plan. Selecting “Enroll” will enable you to see each plan option. Click “Next” to proceed to the next benefit.
- At the end, you will be prompted to provide any missing data. Once you have done this, you will be able to review and sign your forms using your mouse or mobile device.
ELIGIBILITY
- Coverage begins for enrolled eligible employees on the first of the month following 30 days of employment
ELIGIBLE DEPENDENTS
- Legally married spouse
- Children until they turn 26 regardless of student, marital, or employment status. This includes natural children, stepchildren, adopted (or placed for adoption), and children for whom you are legal guardian.
You will not be allowed to make a change after the open enrollment window closes, unless you experience a qualifying life event.
Medical
James Irwin Charter School offers a comprehensive medical plan offering with a choice between a HMO and HDHP plan.

PeakMed
JICS provides access to PeakMed Direct Primary Care (DPC) services for employees enrolled on either the Aetna Choice HSA $4.0k or Base HSA $5.0k plan at no additional cost. Employees enrolling on the Aetna HMO (Copay) plan, or anyone wanting to add their dependents under any medical plan, will be responsible for 100% of the monthly fee to access PeakMed.
Health Savings Account
A qualified high deductible health plan with a Health Savings Account is an alternative to traditional health insurance plans. The HSA is a savings product that offers a different way for consumers to pay for their health care costs. You must be covered by a Qualified High Deductible Health Plan (QHDHP) to be able to contribute to an HSA.
Your HSA is your money. Whatever you do not spend in a given year rolls over to the next. If you change jobs or retire, your HSA balance goes with you.

Life & Disability
James Irwin believes in offering our employees the opportunity to provide for their family's future rather than leaving it to chance. Life insurance can provide your dependents with a lifetime of financial security and upon your death, can be used to pay off your debts - such as credit cards and your mortgage - or other expenses that could burden your family.
That's why James Irwin provides Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance to full-time employees at no cost to you.
As an employee, you can purchase additional Life and AD&D for yourself, spouse, and dependents.
Voluntary Short-Term Disability Insurance
Becoming disabled is often and unexpected and a burdensome experience, and it can happen to anyone. Disability insurance can help protect your income in the event of a disability by providing you a benefit for injuries and sickness which are not work related.
